Reportage

Up one level

In this section i have selected a part of my reportages. In a reportage the photographer's emotions and feelings replace the words; reportage is a point of view in a particular moment. Reportage is sometimes giving voice o those who are unhearded, to those ho claim answers but never get them. Reportage is curiosity. Reportage is a mood. Reportage is surmounting your limits. Reportage is a weapon that fires hope. Reportage is pure passion. Reportage is the truth.

Garbage emergency in Naples by Roberto Salomone — last modified 2008-09-11 20:19
From May 2007 to June 2008, the city of Naples, suffered a major garbage emergency. Tons and tons of garbaye stood uncollected in the streets of the city for months. Every night, firefighters had to extinguish hundreds of fires developed from the piles of garbage standing in every corner of every street. Garbage, along with drugs, is one of the major incomes for the camorra (the criminal organiation that "rules" in Naples. Finding a solution to the emergency has been one of the top priorities of prime minister Silvio Berlusconi; it appears he made it.
Regi Lagni by Roberto Salomone — last modified 2010-05-01 16:50
Regi Lagni is a complex network of channels built in the 16th century by Spanish Viceroyalty and ended by the Bourbon kings. The network of channels covers an area of 56 km and its main function was to drain water during floods. Today the situation has completly changed and the Regi Lagni can be defined as an ecological bomb. Any kind of refusals are dumped inside the channels: from toxic waters to heavy industry powders to car wrecks to gravestones. Cow buffals from whose milk mozzarella di bufala is produced drink the toxic waters of the channels. The higly polluted waters unload directly into the sea in Castelvolturno causing what will inevitably become an enviromental disaster.
Nero by Roberto Salomone — last modified 2008-10-08 09:43
On September 18 2008 six immigrants were shot to death in Castelvolturno, southern Italy. Since that day people hurried in declaring to the media that Italy is not a racist nation. I believe that a racist wind is blowing in this fucking country. These pictures tell no story; the story is in the faces and gestures of these people. People that left their hell just to find a worst one. Here, in Italy.
Through Their Eyes. Obama Inauguration by Roberto Salomone — last modified 2009-08-21 09:22
On January 20 2009 i I was in Washington DC to witness history. Barack Obama became the first african-american President of the United States of America. It was more than a inauguration, it was like the marriage between a man and his nation. In the eyes of the over 1 milion people that crowded the Washington Mall you could really read real hope and a renewed feeling of being one. Prayers, tears and smilies of all the people who had the chance to witness this once in a liftime event will become the icons of a new America.
